Tori Cárdenas is a queer Tainx/Latinx poet from Northern New Mexico. In 2014, they graduated from the University of New Mexico with a dual Bachelor’s of Arts in History and English, with a concentration in Poetry. In Fall 2017, they returned to earn their Master’s of Fine Arts in Fiction. They served as Blue Mesa Review’s 2018-2019 Poetry Editor, and serve currently as the 2019-2020 Editor in Chief. They also serve as Poetry Editor at Writers Resist.

Tori’s short fiction has appeared in Conceptions Southwest, VICE, Pantheon Magazine, and elsewhere.

Tori’s poems have been nominated for the Best of the Net anthology and for the Pushcart Prize, and featured as finalists in the 2018 and 2019 Rabbit Catastrophe Press Really Good Poem Prize. Their poetry manuscript was also selected as a finalist in the 2019 Write Bloody Poetry Book Contest.

  1. I heard some of your work at the Chatter concert yesterday and was quite impressed. (I usually listen with my eyes closed to get the full aural effect.) I was surprised to find that you don’t have a published collection. Is there one in progress? Jimmie Baca had success with New Directions Press and they have a well established poetry list. Perhaps the UNM English Dept profs have already made some good suggestions to you. At any rate, good luck.
